Key Skills & Techniques: Handstands


The Handstand module introduces one of the most fundamental skills in gymnastics. Handstands develop upper body strength, balance, and body alignment, while also serving as a foundation for advanced acrobatic and tumbling elements in TeamGym. This progression-based training helps athletes build confidence and control in inverted positions.


The module includes exercises such as plank with feet elevated, supported headstands, headstand progressions (with and without partner assistance), wall handstand holds (facing in and out), and free-standing headstand holds. Each drill builds step by step, guiding athletes safely from supported positions to independent control.
